Beyond the Stillpoint-An Introduction to Biodynamics

“The Breath of Life that creates the body and heals the body.”

Around 1948, after he and his wife Adah had retired to Pacific Grove, CA, Dr. William Sutherland made a shift in how he spoke about cranial work.  “Diagnosis and treatment is done by the Tide,” he said, that the Tide and the Breath of Life is “doing the corrections.” He witnessed the interplay of water and light.  He wrote that “potency has intelligence,” and directed his students to feel the “fluid within fluid.” Gentleness became key.

In the Beyond The Stillpoint class, we will explore this last phase of his enormous contribution.  Over four days we study the history and theory of biodynamic craniosacral.  We open to the experience and discernment of practitioner neutral, client neutral, midline, fulcrum, fluid tide, Long Tide and what is possible ‘beyond the stillpoint.’

You will learn to touch in a non-efferent way in neutral, and in tonal match with the tissue motion, so that you naturally segue into contact with primary respiration -- the intelligence that is doing the corrections.

BTSP was developed by Charles Ridley while he was teaching for the Milne Institute. He taught his first class in January 2002 to the MII faculty, and then to graduates in North America and in Europe. I am honored to have been invited to reintroduce BTSP to MII students and graduates of other trainings.

This class qualifies you to apply to the mentor course series taught by Charles and his other teachers; it is equivalent to the “Bridging Class” described on his web site: www.dynamicstillness.com.

Prerequisites: Willingness to drop into silent non-doing, so you can “Be Still and Know.”  We prefer that you have completed cranial class level 5 or 6 in the Milne Institute or equivalent in other craniosacral schools.  However, those of you with a mature practice in craniosacral work may also qualify.

Recomended reading is ‘Stillness’ by Charles Ridley

BTSP qualifies for 32 contact hours with the NCBTMB.  For questions about the class or eligibility contact me at ggbigsur@aol.com.  To register, please download the registration form and fax or mail it in to The Milne Institute office.

Please note that the registration form link below is only for classes organized by MII in Tuscany, Berkeley and Santa Monica.

For all other MII classes kindly contact the Organizer of that particular class directly.
